Beyond Diagnosis
Understanding Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Receiving a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) can bring relief, uncertainty and many questions. This guide has been created by The Sophie Reid Neurological Association to help you understand your diagnosis, find trusted support and remind you that you are not alone.
What is Multiple Sclerosis?
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a neurological condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks the protective covering of nerve fibres in the brain and spinal cord. This disrupts the messages travelling through the nervous system and can cause a wide range of symptoms. Everyone’s experience of MS is different.
